Sarah and Karen, the Activity Coordinators at Sutton Hall & Lodge Care Home in Sutton in Craven, have launched an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing the lives of residents not only within their own care home but also across neighbouring care facilities.

Introducing the “Activities & Residents Forum,” Sarah and Karen have reached out to local care homes to facilitate the exchange of activity ideas and best practices. This initiative fosters opportunities for residents to forge new friendships and social connections beyond the confines of their own community.

In collaboration with Dementia Friendly Keighley and Step into Action Skipton, a local charity dedicated to community strengthening, the forum aims to create a supportive network where individuals can thrive through befriending services, projects, and activities that promote a sense of pride and belonging.
Karen expressed enthusiasm about the overwhelming response to the initiative, noting the involvement of not only established charities but also 12 other care homes eager to participate. She emphasised the positive impact such collaborative efforts can have on residents’ well-being, highlighting the collective commitment to enhancing their quality of life.
